The late hours of the afternoon today, July the 7th was a bitter one for
some street traders in Enugu. These traders have their businesses
running at the road sides of Trans Ekulu area of the state. They were
mostly youths and students of Enugu State College of Education Technical
as well as Enugu State University of Science and Technology. These
traders feel deeply hurted and hopeless as a result of the situation.
Most of them are crying out to the government to act quickly to salvage
their situation as they lack alternative means of livelihood and support
for their academic pursuit.
Meanwhile in an interview with One of the agents of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr. Okoh Emeka, he said that the agency has for many months given out warnings and notices for the incident but yet the occupants refused to leave the designated areas. But the traders in their own opinion claim that they were given no notice or warnings.
